Hawthorndene
Hawthorndene is a spacious cottage on the sea shore, refurbished to a high standard in 2008 Hawthorndene faces South East, with an uninterrupted view across the Loch and is conveniently located on the village main street. Built in 1901, this is a classic cottage, refurbished with an attention to detail, which maintains its character while also offering you a comfortable and well-equipped cottage for your holiday.

The sitting room has been left as originally built with the pitch pine panelling giving a “snug” feel. The lounge has a multifuel stove, comfortable sofa and chairs, there is a TV with access to free-to air stations, a DVD player and a CD player.

Across the hall there is a sunny dining room, complete with large dining table and chairs, the traditional style fireplace houses a multifuel stove, for those guests who want to linger over their meals.

The dining-room leads to a large and completely refurbished kitchen. The kitchen equipment includes; electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge, microwave cooker and plenty of the usual crockery and utensils. The washing machine and separate tumble drier are located off the kitchen in a small utility area which is also very useful for storing boots, etc.
The bathroom is on a half landing found at the curve of the staircase, it is equipped with an electric shaver point, an electric shower over the bath, a wash hand basin and toilet, which is in addition to a separate toilet located on the ground floor
All of the bedrooms are located on the upper floor. There is a good size double bedroom which has a new king-sized bed. The twin room has two large modern single beds, and there is also a small box-room with a single bed. All of the beds were newly purchased in 2008, the remaining bedroom furnishings are solidly built pine.

The heating and hot water is all electric, with heaters in all rooms, as previously mentioned both the public rooms have multifuel stoves for those guests who like to have a real fire, and the living rooms and bedrooms are carpeted throughout for comfort and warmth. The heating is both efficient and adjustable, to allow you maximum comfort.
One well-behaved dog is welcome, but must not go on the furniture, upstairs, or be left alone in the house.
To the rear of the cottage is an elevated terraced area, which offers you a private outdoor seating area, to make the most of the sea view. While every effort has been made to make this area safe, guests are advised not to allow young children to use it unsupervised. It is not suitable for less able bodied guests.

view from the terrace
Hawthorndene affords you a convenient village location; our fantastic village store (everything from hot croissants to sun-cream) is just down the road, the excellent butcher’s shop and both of the hotels are just a short walk from the cottage. Parking is available on the road outside the front door, for those guests who prefer to have their car off the main road there is free public parking nearby.
