Can you advise us on how to insure our holiday?
I would advise you to use a company you might already be using for other types of insurance cover, or one recommended by a friend. However I have also done some research and found www.flexicover.co.uk or tel: 0800 093 9495 as offering reasonalble rates. The Post Office also do insurance and this can be bought at a local branch, by phone at 0800 294 2292 or online www.cover-uk.com/travel_insurance.htm I hope this helps.
How do we pay our balance?
By Cheque - pay - Lochcarron Holiday Properties and send to the address on the contact us page.
By BACS - email me and I will supply you with the account details.
By Credit Card - In line with being as transparent as possible about the charge Automatic acceptance of credit cards for larger payment via the site is not offered. Credit card payment can be made by using paypal, there is a 4.5% charge, (e.g. £13.50 charge on a £300 balance) should you wish to use this method email me and I will send you a payment request email which has a simple click through and you pay online using your credit card.
Why do you not accept Credit Cards directly?
I prefer not to be aware of, or have responsibility for storing our customers private credit card details. Paypal charge for this service Im afraid the charge for the payment if you choose to use this method has to be passed onto you.
Which way do you recommend we travel to Lochcarron?
I usually recommend travelling to Lochcarron via Inverness and travel home via Glasgow, but this may not suit you? The reason for this is the roads are good coming via Inverness but the views are not to be missed on the West, so travel back that way when you are fresh and can appreciate them.
How do we find the cottage?

Your hire starts at 4pm on the day of arrival, and ends at 10am on the day of departure. However we will try to accommodate you if you arrive early, pop in and have a chat with the cleaner and she / he will tell you how long s/he expects to be. Most of the time we can (with the co-operation of the party leaving), get the cottage ready earlier if you request it. Please ask.

Are there any places to eat or go for a drink in Lochcarron?
The Lochcarron serving bar meals and The Rockvilla Guest House, serves restaurant meals. There is also the Waterside Cafe and The Bistro on the main street in Lochcarron, to eat in or take away.
Within 3 miles serving meals and drinks. The Strathcarron Hotel and 4 miles The Carron Restaurant (lovely surf and turf - all meals made on the premises), and 7 miles The Kishorn Seafood snack bar (well worth a visit to try something more unusual in the shellfish range).
All of the above will do takeaway if you ask them, and the Carron Restaurant will deliver meals to your cottage on your day of arrival, but you must give them plenty of notice. Their Christmas Hampers are well worth a look too! They have recently started to sell their home baked bread.

Yes it is always the third Saturday in July, (the local Shinty Club usually have a dance in the village hall the Friday night before the games too).
The Shinty Club play locally pretty much every Saturday during the summer. Also watch out for the Sailing Club who provide a pleasant display of sailing to watch from the shore on Wednesdays evenings and Sundays. |
